About Mike Rose
Career highlights past and present
Educator Michael (Mike) Rose has been in the profession for 12 years, including seven of them at Miramonte High School in Orinda, California. During his time at Miramonte High, Mike Rose was a social science teacher and launched the school’s Model UN program, which familiarizes students with how the United Nations operates.
Earning a master’s degree from St. Mary’s College, Mr. Rose served as a student teacher in the Mount Diablo Unified School District, where he created lessons, projects, and assignments and graded work for students in two world history classes. Eventually, he went on to become a substitute teacher for the district.
In September 2011, Woodland Polytechnic hired him to teach world and US history. He also wrote the curriculum for economics and government. Mike Rose collaborated with the English department and other educators in a program of teaching across the school curriculum, combining multiple subjects in one class. In 2012, he joined the faculty at Christopher High School in a similar role.
The following year, Mr. Rose was hired at Miramonte High School to teach Law and Society courses. As in his prior teaching positions, he worked with department heads in other disciplines on cross-curriculum projects.
In several of his school posts, Michael Rose also served as a coach in sports such as golf and track-and-field. He is an accomplished sports writer as well, contributing articles to the Golden Gate Sports web page and covering the Gaels basketball team from his alma mater.
